Daniel G. Marshall

  • Dan Marshall Umpire of the Year Award

The CCL Coaches have just approved the “Dan Marshall Umpire of the Year Award” It will be nominated and voted on at the annual "CCL All-Conference" meeting. This got such high praise from the AD’s, that the CCL has started an award for officials in each of the sponsored CCL sports. Tremendous tribute to Dan, the baseball coaches and the CCUA! - Doug Ternik CCL Baseball Chairman / Providence Catholic HS Athletic Director
  • Dan was a big part of high school baseball...

Dan was a big part of high school baseball and he certainly made his mark on the sport. He was also a colleague of mine. I’ve always enjoyed my conversations with him at the state finals over the years.
He is one of us and deserves to be recognized and remembered for his contributions over the years. 65 is too young. At least he is at peace now. - Jeff Siegel (UMPS Assignor)
  • He was always willing to help me...

Dan Marshall was as dedicated to his job as an assigner as anyone I've ever encountered. He was always willing to help me when I got stuck looking for a sub. More importantly, he was a great friend. Dan always felt that the most important part of the games we officiate are the players. He always wanted to make sure the players got a fair shake. He wasn't so much about the check as he was the game. He is irreplaceable. - Rich Panovich
  • great man with a Huge heart!

He is the only guy I ever say to leave one of our venerable coaches speechless... regardless of the situation.Dan will be missed, a great man with a HUGE HEART! - John Litrenta
  • Thank you Dan, you had a life well lived!

The Leo Catholic H.S. Family sends our deepest sympathies and condolences to Dan Marshall's Family. Dan was an extraordinary man that didn't mind hard work and he always stood on his principals. Dan's impact on the Catholic League, Youth Baseball as a whole and all the people he encountered will live on. Thank you Dan, you had a life well lived! Coach Mike Anderson
  • God bless you Dan Marshall

God bless Dan and the entire Marshall family!!! Dan has been tremendous wonderful mentor and a friend during my cancer battle. He talked to me quite often and told me to fight (I had young kids) he said I had a reason to fight. Thank you Dan, for your kindness and your words of encouragement!!!! I will never ever forget those words. God bless you Dan Marshall. You've been a wonderful friend, mentor and human being... - Kelvin Jones
  • You were a true friend

Rest in Peace, Dan! You were a true friend and great founding father of our association! - Steve Shaw
Daniel G. Marshall, age 65, of Palos Heights, IL (formerly of Oak Lawn), at rest on February 27, 2022. Dan was a co-founder of the CCUA (Chicago Catholic Umpires Assoc.), an IHSA Baseball and Basketball Official and Collegiate Baseball umpire for the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Danny loved three things in life: God, his family and baseball. The only problem – once baseball season started, he changed the order around a bit. Heaven has gained an angel who will never quit! Enjoy the game, Dan!
