11/07/2024 Message From Paul Rybarczyk - CCUA President
Welcome back for another spring season of baseball..I am currently in the process of updating Arbiter with all the schedules. I have started my varsity assigning and hope to be done with that this weekend as I have time today, Friday and Saturday to accomplish this! With that being said, I want to review some things with you and our outstanding 2024 season...
We had as an organization an outstanding clinic last February with over 75 attendees. We honored last year's Dan Marshall Award Winner and IHSA Baseball Umpire of the Year John Cyr. What a tremendous accomplishment for John! This year's Dan Marshall Award Winner was Mike Sliwinski, another very worthy winner. Mike works\ NCCA, NAIA and High School durning the season and is an excellent mentor for our younger officials. Our Spring Clinic this year will be again on Super Bowl Sunday morning ...Feb 9th @ Brother Rice from 9-1:30....and we have some changes for the clinic that will we share with you in later email, MIke will receive his CCL Dan Marshall plaque at the Clinic...
We had numerous officials work the IHSA State Tourney and it is my goal to continually increase that number at all levels of the tournament, especially getting more umpires to Sectionals, Supers and the State...I plan to talk with Sam Knox about the quality of umpires we have in our group who work our conferences...
Our organization applied for an IHSA Official grant this season and it was OK's for the maximum $500 award. We will be putting together a CCUA Umpire Manual. If anyone is interested in helping put this together or what to include in it, please get in touch with Rob Hacker or myself... I am sure you have some outstanding ideas as I think this manual will help our younger and veteran officials like to improve umpiring both from a rules and mechanics perspective.
Our website is now open to pay your dues... www.ccuaumps.com ...There will be no increase in dues this year. In talking with the Board, we are financially stable and also the umpire rates (which are the highest in the area) will remain the same as we are in the second year of a two year contract with the CCL...Varsity games will remain at $100 and $200 for DH's and all lower level one man games will be $90 and two man lower level games (except the CCL tourney) will be $80 at Providence...Please get your dues paid as soon as possible as I will open up self assign on a pay first system...You pay your dues...I allow you to go to self assign for the lower levels...
I hope to have everything inputted into Arbiter this weekend so I will open up Arbiter on Sunday night to those who have paid their 25 dues...Again only JV and F/S games are available on self assign. I do all the varsity assigning by individual umpire as in the past.
If you have any questions, please email me parbrbrave@yahoo.com or text me..708 446-2461 and I will call or text you back...
Hope everyone is having an excellent Fall Season!!
Paul
